Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

What problem does AuthMetrik solve?

AuthMetrik helps companies increase revenue by stopping unauthorised sharing of online accounts. Currently, just by sharing passwords, multiple people can gain access to a company’s premium account without paying for it. This is a direct revenue loss for the company.

AuthMetrik uses Keystroke Dynamics based Machine Learning algorithm to uniquely identify each user. AuthMetrik, through its algorithm, can identify and restrict access of an account only to the person who registered for it. So, even if your user shares his credentials, account can be accessed only by its real user.

What is Keystroke Dynamics?

The behavioral biometric of Keystroke Dynamics uses the manner and rhythm in which an individual types characters on a keyboard or keypad. The keystroke rhythms of a user are measured to develop a unique biometric template of the user's typing pattern for future authentication.

What's the accuracy of AuthMetrik’s software platform?

As per our latest real time testing, AuthMetrik’s algorithm is 93.4% accurate.

How do you calculate the difference between a sharing user and the true user?

When a user registers on a client platform, we create a signature based on his typing pattern and other attributes.

On each subsequent login, we create another signature of the person logging in and validate it against the signature that was created at the time of registration and assign a matching score.

Higher matching score indicates real user while low matching score will indicate the login attempt was made by sharing users.

We have X millions of users, what if two or more exhibit the exact same behavior?

It is highly unlikely for two people to have the exact same behavior. Still hypothetically even if they do, this will not impact the algorithm decisions as we validate the sharing users on an account against the real user of that account. So for our algorithm to have an impact, two or more users accessing the same account need to have exact same behavior which is unlikely.

What could happen if the database storing the behavioral profiles is hacked?

Data is stored on MongoDB Atlas accessible only through Amazon’s application instance. It is also protected via multi-factor authentication permitting access from only whitelisted protocols.

Still if the database gets hacked, your user data will still be protected. We store the data in unidentifiable form. So even if the database storing the data is hacked, the data cannot be attributed to any identifiable person.
